Exact Winkler Solution for Laterally Loaded Piles in Inhomogeneous Soil

A novel exact analytical solution is derived for the equation y(4)+xny=0 in region x≥0, which important analysis of piles soil with stiffness varying depth. To date, solutions long are available only cases where n=−4, 0, and 1. For other values exponent n, have formerly been obtained numerically, mainly by finite-difference method or approximate solutions. An inherent difficulty obtaining beams (which used to model flexible piles) lies inability isolate regular, converging part over singular that diverges increasing x. In this paper, an n>−4, focusing on case semi-infinite beams.
